OK, how fabulous is it that we have some extraordinary Mormon singers representing in American Idol this year. Both Brooke White (my favorite) and David Archuletta are Mormon contestants! I love the classiness and beauty exhibited by Brooke White. She is wholesome, modest, and beautiful. I just love her image. Especially on a show like American Idol, it would be quite easy to exhibit her beauty in an immodest fashion. A great example for young girls everywhere. Everyone seems to love David Archuletta. I have to admit, he did a fabulous rendition of one of my favorite songs of all time; "The Long and Winding Road." Anyway, I hope neither one of them gets voted off tonight! It has been so awesome to hear all these singers using songs from the Beatles songbook. The Beatles were and are the best group ever! They will always be my favorite. I thought I would be wincing in more of the performances. It is sometimes hard to listen to someone trying to sound like John Lennon or Paul McCartney. Luckily, most of them have done a pretty good job.
If only Mitt Romney had stayed in the political race, we could have had a lot of Mormon representation out there, and representation to be proud of---unlike "Julie" of the Real World who made me want to vomit! Thank goodness her 15 minutes of fame is over!

STD's and Eliot Spitzer
Just thought you would all want to know:
25% of all teenage girls between the ages of 14-19 have an STD.
This is in the same report where only 50% of teenage girls claim to be sexually active.
So, according to this report, if your teen daughter is sexually active, she has a 50%chance of having an STD.
What can we do to change this?????
I guess continue to support missionaries to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ, and hopefully have more people abiding by the principles of God!
On a similar note:
Glenn Beck, on his radio show, does an advertisement for ProFlowers. Yesterday's flower special was the:
I am not seeing hookers "dozen rose special"
What better way to say I love you than to send your special someone the
"I am not seeing hookers" dozen rose special!!! Every woman would be proud to show off her special roses!!!
Thanks Eliot Spitzer (the governor of NY who was just caught seeing high-priced call girls), for making the every day man look fabulous!!!
I have to give them points for creativity in advertising! Go ProFlowers!

What are you watching, Part 2---
So, I have noticed some new shows on TV, and am enjoying them. As most of you know, I just LOVE reality TV, so they all fit in that category.
One, I just saw last night on TLC, is a new show called "Secret Life of a Soccer Mom." In this show, they give an opportunity to stay-at-home Mom's to pursue a career in an area they love. In last night's episode, a stay-at-home Mom with three daughters, and a physician husband, was able to get a chance to work as a high-end fashion designer. What was awesome, was even being away from the field for a long time, she still did AMAZING and at the end was offered a job. It was also fun to see her husband struggling as the house-husband. I would definately recommend this show.
The other show I have been enjoying is "Here Come the Newlyweds" on ABC. It is a show with seven couples competing for lots of money. It is a fun show.
I also am ashamed to admit I am enjoying "Moment of Truth" (a new game show where you watch train wrecks occurring frequently!) I also am ashamed to admit I can't wait till "The Hills" comes back on, but shhhhhhhhh don't tell anyone.
Anyway, anyone else finding any interesting shows out there? Always needing to find a little amusement.

The Moment of Truth Lauren and Frank! Part 1!
OK, I have to admit this is trash, but Brandon and I could not stop ourselves from watching this train wreck happening. Beware, it is disturbing.

Hollywood Hair Makeover!
Go to hairmakeover.instyle.com/makeover/ to get your own Hollywood Makeover!!!
Laura with Jennifer Garner hair?(just a little lighter!)

Laura/Jessica Alba? Don't I wish?
Gwyneth Paltrow anyone?
J Lo? I did Beyonce too, but it was even MORE ridiculous!!!

This made me laugh! Do I make a good Gwen Stefani?

Well, my friend BON (feel free to click on her name to see her blog), also known as my friend Jen's Mom, has the link to this site ---- and I had an enjoyable time "trying" on a variety of looks. I found the best way to do this was to take a new picture of myself, pinning my bangs back and using that. So, you will have to tell me which look is the best or worst for me. After this, I am considering growing out the bangs. We will have to see!

TV!
I just had to reply to my friend Jen's blog entry "What are you watching?"
Our current favorites include:
---The Amazing Race (just finished!)
---Wife Swap (always amusing! for the voyeurist in me! It is always interesting to see how other families live!)
---American Idol (it is so fun to watch this with my sons Brandon & Ethan! We all get a good laugh out of it!)
---Intervention (LOVE this show!)
---The Biggest Loser (good to gain motivation; although it was a little depressing to see most of them losing 10-15 lbs. their first week!)
---Adoption Stories (they are a couple years old and I have seen them all, but they make for "feel good" TV---can be found on Discovery or Discovery Health!)
---I was LOVING the Sopranos (edited on A & E---but have watched most of the seasons now, most are repeats at this point, although I have yet to see the last season or two!)
---we are BIG Survivor fans and are excited for the next season!!!
I think I am the only person in the universe that HATES "the Office!"
I would love to know what the rest of you are watching----maybe I can get tuned into something I have not been aware of!!!

"Nothing says I love you like a glock"
Just so you know, the title of this entry is making fun of Drew Peterson (the cop who made this statement)! Apparently he gave his fourth wife (who is now missing) a glock for Valentine's Day. When asked why, he responded with "Nothing says I love you like a glock!" His 3rd wife was found dead in a bathtub, and he is now under suspicion in her death! I just am intrigued by a good mystery---so I have been paying way too much attention to this story!!! Anyway, I got my husband the "gun" controller for the Wii for Christmas, and wrote on the package, "Nothing says I love you like a glock." Here is my husband playing with his new toy! And don't worry, he will not go missing anytime soon!
PS: My kids and family love the Wii! Brandon and Ethan LOVE the bowling game. We may never have to return to a bowling alley again!!! They LOVE it! It seems so realistic, it is amazing. The only thing you miss out on playing the bowling game at home is that cigarette smoke that you get at the real bowling alley. I am telling you, this Wii is a hit and a half! You may even find me playing it one of these days!

Three Items of Interest!
First off, I have been so excited to find the blogs of so many of my cousins. I have over 70 cousins, so I guess percentage wise, I am still pretty low, but it has been fun to see what all these great people are up to. Any other cousins out there, please start a blog, so we can begin to keep up with you!!! Send me your blog link so I can read along! The newest blog find has been cousin Greg, who may actually inspire me to improve my diet and lose some weight. We shall see. I want to read some of the books he has been reading!
Second, I have been also fascinated with Jessica Seinfeld's new book which gives ways for Mom's to make vegetable puree's and mask them in kid-friendly foods like mac-n-cheese and chicken nuggets. She also adds them to brownies and other deserts which are said to be delicious. I will have to go buy her book. (it was on Oprah the other day and totally fascinated me.) (tyra, this totally seems up your alley!)
We shall see if my kids discover their new disguised nutrition. What's fabulous is it seems really pretty easy, and a way to make mealtime less argumentative. (No more fights over eating vegetables!) I am all for that!
Also, on Oprah the other day (thank goodness for TIVO), was the author of another book I am dying to read "Eat, Pray, Love". I am hoping to pick up this book also. I love some good reads and I have heard these are both very good.
So, on our date this week, we will have to stop at the bookstore to get these books. Hopefully, they will be as great as they seem! Anyone else have some suggestions for good books?

MONOPOLY TIME!
I had to laugh, I just read a post from an old mission buddy, who was talking about how much she loves MONOPOLY at McDonald's. I also am TOTALLY addicted to the game. I must need to get a life; as pulling off the possible winning tabs off the drink or Fries is just so exciting to me. Have I ever won anything from Monopoly? NO! Could that all change this year? Of course it can! Yes, I am clearly nutty about this game! I have already begun collecting the pieces. We did win a Playstation off a Big Mac once, but it wasn't from the Monopoly game, maybe that's why I have such a sense of hope in winning. I know it is foolishness, but it is fun foolishness! I know there are more of you McDonald Monopoly freaks out there!!! (You are just probably smart enough not to admit it!)

Current Fascination
I have a current fascination that I must disclose: Brandon Flowers. I find him extremely fascinating. And no, it is not just because his name is Brandon. He is, of course, the lead singer of "the killers" and I happen to LOVE all their music. I also find it most fascinating that he is LDS; and considers himself a practicing Mormon; whatever that means. For him, that does include cigarettes, alcohol, and perhaps some other substances. His music has religious undertones; his latest video; very Catholic. For whatever reason, I currently find him most fascinating. Perhaps it is just the eyeliner; reminding me of many of the popular groups back in my day. His sound is very reminiscent of a lot of that alternative music. Anyway, I am hoping to extinguish my fascination through blogging. He also got married, semi-recently, I think, although his sexuality has been in question. Anyway, I love his music!!!!! Who knew someone originally from Nephi, Utah could sound that good and have so much soul within.

What hope do we have?
I can't believe it. It's true. Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston are splitting up. A dysfunctional relationship with lots of loyalty. My world is being rocked. Now, I don't know what to think or where to turn. My world is falling apart. Also, can you believe what happened to Anna Nicole's son Daniel? Dying in her hospital room just 3 days after Anna had a baby girl? Wow. I don't know what is more disturbing; her having a baby girl, or the mysterious death of her son. Can you believe Brittney Spears just had her 2nd boy? Unbelievable. Oops, she did it again. Anyway, it has been an amazing week in celeb gossip; so I can't wait to see the headline on next week's People magazine. Wow. After reading all these headlines, life isn't so bad, we can all make it through. Thank goodness for our normal, boring lives. ( I cannot be responsible for the flow of my thoughts at 2am.)

Ellen & Beyonce

I can't believe it; my sis in law, Diane, took these pics at Central Park at the taping of the Ellen Degeneres show yesterday, and was able to get this fab pic of Beyonce and also of Ellen. I am so jealous; if I had been that close to Beyonce; maybe I could have gleaned off some of her glamour. Inside of each of us, we all have a little Beyonce that needs to come out once in a while. Sometimes we are all feeling a little "Crazy in Love." I am really sad that I wasn't good enough in my last life to come back as Beyonce. I have now missed my opportunity. For those of you as excited about Beyonce as me; here is her debut on the blog. Here is also some Ellen. I know there are lots of fans out there. Let's face it, there are some definite benefits to living in great NYC. Here is clearly one of them.
