Mother's Day with My Mommy

We had a wonderful Mother's Day with My Mommy. My husband and Dad cooked us up some wonderful salmon, asparagus, mashed potatoes, and my favorite; a Caeser salad. YUMMY. We also had several deserts to choose from....strawberry shortcake, cheesecake, or lemon meringue pie. (Not that food is the total focus of my world:)

My Mom gets gypped every year. Her birthday is on the 9th of May, and she was born on Mother's Day (as was my oldest son Brandon). So, it was a dual celebration.

My Mom tomorrow will turn 68. I say this not to out her, but because I have to hand it to her, she ages SOOOOO well. I am hoping that I get her genes in this regard........anyway, I am grateful for my Mom and all the wonderful lessons she has taught me through the years. She is a great Mom and Grandma. I love her guts.

And just in case you were wondering, stories sound much better when told under an umbrella....:)

Maddie learns to ride a bike.

Yesterday afternoon we were getting out all the kids bikes....we went and pumped all the tires.....all of a sudden, I hear Maddie screaming, "Mommy....look"....and there she was riding a bike. Taught herself to ride without training wheels within a couple minutes. Maddie has no fear....which helps when learning to ride a bike. Our easiest yet to learn to ride a bike. C'mon Dylan...we only have one more to go.

Maddie's Mother Day Present.

Maddie came home from preschool SOOOOO excited for me to open my Mother's Day present. She could not wait for me to open it....then she helped me open it to make sure I did not destroy her homemade decorated bag....SO CUTE. She had a pot holder she artistically decorated for me that says, I Love Mom. Then she answered some questions about me.

My Mom is the prettiest when.... "she goes on a date!"
My Mom likes to make "enchiladas and pasta".
My Mom always says "that she loves me."
My Mom is funny when she "tickles me."
I love you Mom.

Thanks to Miss Teresa....the best preschool teacher in the land.
I love my little Maddie. (Sniffle, sniffle....last year of preschool). She will be entering the big 'ol world of kindergarten. Sniffle, sniffle.

Sweet Kid Moment

Dylan (4) asks me if he and I can go to Disneyland by ourselves for his birthday. He said we would go on lots of rides, and he would look like Mickey, and I would look like Minnie. Makes me wish I was independently wealthy:) or maybe I just need to live in CA.

I think the last child really benefits from the nostalgia parents suffer from realizing these may be their last parenting moments at certain stages.

Dylan is so tender...he always says things in such a sweet, sincere way it nearly kills me. This kid has me wrapped around his finger.

One day when I am rich I am going to have a tradition to take my children alone to Disneyland....how fun would that be for a parent-child date.
