Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Brandon

Little Brandon and his buddies

I was not my normal camera self yesterday and actually missed the shot of the big screen wishing Brandon a Happy Birthday. If I make it to this age, maybe we can all go to a baseball game. (Although I don't think it would be my dream birthday party at 92 years old.) That's why I am eating so much junk now, I'll be dead before people can be planning my party at a baseball game.

The mascot

I know little Brandon had a great time, but as a parent, I was not too impressed. If you are wondering if this is a good idea....NOT so much! Anyway, here are some pics of the game!!! Brandon had fun inviting some of his friends and enjoying a night of baseball.

I didn't really enjoy that they messed up the birthday package. We ordered the birthday package to make it easier---ha, ha! We went to our seats, only to find the seats were divided up in different places.

I didn't know it was the first time they had a birthday party there (note sarcasm.)

Taking 8 kids (My husband had Benj) back to the ticket office, waiting 10 minutes for them to rearrange our seating was certainly NOT priceless. Dragging all the 8 kids back to new seats? Not so fun. Using our meal vouchers at the same time they sent the mascot to "visit" with the kids at the party also didn't work out so well. Very unorganized, I must say!!!! But hey, the kids had fun and hopefully didn't notice too much of the stress of the parents involved.

I am always looking for new, fun experiences, so I guess this is one of those we can check off the list.

OK, so the question of the hour---do you write about nightmare experiences? Cause if you do, history will focus on that rather than the fun. If you don't mention the bad things, the child will probably remember the fun. In writing about the bad experiences of this birthday event, little Brandon might be left with that memory for his 9th birthday? Whatcha think?

My Brandon

Here is Brandon on his 9th birthday with his Tony Romo jersey. He also loves to sport the Yoda backpack from Disneyland. Creepy, but great. I love my sweet little mancub Brandon. He has a great sense of humor. 9 is a fun age. He is funny, sweet, and innocent. May that stick around for a while! I was glad to indulge him in spikey hair for his birthday!

A little later on we enjoyed Little Brandon's cupcake cake! He loved it! Happy 9th birthday baby!

Simple Machine, My Butt.

Sorry, I had to let out some emotion. Gotta' love school projects, especially the ones that parents get to do most of the work for. Little B "got" to do a simple machine for school. HA. He was supposed to make one of the holes for a golf course. Fun, fun, fun. The scary thing is some of the parents/kids really got into it. I think they spent the whole last month on it. Made out of wood, metal, etc. I was like.....maybe you should have more kids, cause clearly you have a lot of energy. Which I seem to be lacking a bit of late. Anyway, little Brandon had fun, and luckily we only had to go to 2 Walmarts to find the Transformer poster. He had already turned in his plan, so we couldn't change it at the last minute. And who am I kidding, really it was his Dad who did all the work with him while I was at work several nights this week----but still. (When these projects come due, I am secretly glad to have a job. Am I evil? Don't answer please. It's a rhetorical question.)

3rd grade has been the year of projects. Please tell me 4th grade slows down? I have a sneaking suspicion I am wrong on that one.

Luckily, little Brandon had fun and that is almost all that is important. And more importantly, Brandon was proud that no one could get the ball in the hole. The whole school came to putt in the gym with all the simple machines, and not one kid could get the ball in. Probably evidence that our machine was not the best. Shhhhhh.

Brandon's Babyhood Slideshow

My sweet Brandon is already 9 years old! He was born on Mother's Day; which seemed especially sweet in having my first child! Brandon amazes me with his warm, kind, giving heart. He really works to show the people around him of his love. He touches my heart with his kindness and love. He is smart, loves to "invent" things, plays piano, football, and is starting to love basketball. All I can say about my Brandon is that God does know how to give us the greatest gifts! He is one of them.

Mother's Day Moments

The great thing about Mother's Day; I can make my kids take even more pictures than usual!

Mother's Day Cards

Little Brandon's card was so cute. It was folded up over and over again, and then taped into several other pieces of paper. He was so excited to give it to me. You just can't pay for that type of thing. Such a sweetheart! Then, thanks to Walmart craft moment, I got these other cards from Dylan (2), Maddie (3) and Brandon (8). I loved their little hand prints. So cute. Benjamin's got lost somewhere in the mix, and Ethan was at a birthday party at the time they were made. Fun times.

Mother's Day First Grade Picnic

On Friday, they had a first grade picnic invite for the Mom's. So, I met little Ethan for a mother-son picnic. So cute!

Princess and the Pee-Pee

One of us in the car referred to Maddie this way last night! Whoever said girls are easier to potty train, was lyin' to me. Maddie has the smallest bladder. We are in the car anywhere for 10 minutes and she "has to go pee." At the store, she has to go usually more than once. No easy feat with 2 other toddlers in tow. I have had to resort to putting her in a diaper at times on shopping trips just so I don't get interrupted with bathroom breaks every 2 seconds. Anyway.....the joys of parenthood. I love my little princess, but not all the potty breaks!

Happy Birthday Mom!

We celebrated my Mom's birthday----went to Chuck-A-Rama, then the Bean Museum, then back to their home and backyard. It's beautiful, I know where I gained my love for flowers! Hope you had a Happy Birthday Mom!

Kid Quotes

Dylan (2) loves Dora. The other day as I was changing his diaper, he said "Abre" for open (referring to his legs). Gotta' love Dora.

When Benjamin (4) would jump in the pool while on vacation, he would say, "1-2-3, Cowabunga!" Have you played that game on the iphone? The little cows jump off a cliff and you try to help them to not all into the water. I guess he was imagining himself as being a little cow jumping into the water.

Even though all my other children call me Mommy, Maddie (3) calls me Mama. I have to say it is so cute.

The other day Benjamin (4) was calling "Mommy, Mommy", so I responded. I was told, "I am not talking to you." Lately, Benjamin, Maddie and Dylan play "house" a lot and Benj calls Maddie, "mommy".

I had to laugh last night, Brandon and I were talking and our kids were playing. All of a sudden, we hear Benjamin (4) playing "camera shoot" with Maddie. He is telling her, "no, move over here," etc. And making "click" sounds for the camera. Brandon and I both looked at each other and laughed. I am sure this comes from watching their Dad take SOOOO many pictures.

Little Ethan (7) was terrified of most of the rides at Disneyland. So, I waited with the four kids outside of the ride, "Tower of Terror" as little Brandon and his Dad went on the ride. Little Brandon came out of the ride alone, without his Dad. Little Ethan asked (seriously), "Did Daddy die?"

Little Brandon told us about a dream he had where Jesus came again. There were angels all around Jesus and since Jesus loves children, all the children were surrounding him. Why don't I have dreams like this?
