Grandma's 90th Birthday Party

My Grandma June Bartholomew had her 90th birthday. You get two guesses for her birthday month, and the first one doesn't count. Anyway, it was a beautiful birthday party. The cake was beautiful and there were beautiful tributes to her life. I think her best tributes to her life are her 8 children. I am grateful for my Grandma and the example she gave to her children. I am grateful for the strength of testimony in the gospel she gave to my father and through that link to all of us. My Grandma has always kept in great shape, and would do a handstand every day until just a few years ago. She is health-conscious, and has been service-oriented throughout her life. She spent most of her life in education. She taught many immigrant families English.

I have to admire her having 8 children. She had them pretty close together. I don't know how she did it. And this is all before dishwashers. And microwaves. And probably diapers. (And clearly before birth control. Just kidding. Well, I am not, but knowing my grandmother, that wouldn't have mattered anyway, she would have still had as many kids in the same time span.)

She is an amazing woman. May my mind remain as sharp as hers is at her age. Unbelievable. Happy 90th birthday Grandma June!

Visiting with Family in Arkansas

The family was able to get together in Arkansas prior to the funeral. Funerals can be hard and sad, but it is nice to have the opportunity to re-acquaint with family members. I found out Brandon's Grandpa was one of ten children, and was a twin. (It turns out there were two sets of twins in their family; although one of the twins miscarried. ) Many of the people here are Brandon's Grandpa's siblings. Hopefully I can put some names to all the pictures. Thanks for taking all the pics Brandon, since I couldn't be there!!! I was so bummed. I hate being left behind. Maybe next trip? Although, let's hope it's not a funeral next time.
